'Went for a Christmas tree, ended up with Larry': Friendly stray cat runs right up to the owner of a Christmas tree lot, and she finds him the purrfect forever home right in time for the holidays

"If we are cold, they are cold" might not be true for all animals, but it is definitely true for kittens. For indoor cats, winter is probably the best time of year. The fluffy blankets come out, the heat is always on, there are soft and warm sweaters everywhere to climb into. They love it. But for outdoor cats, winter is hard. And for lonely kittens - either ones who have been abandoned by their mommas or ones who simply got a little lost - winter is nearly impossible to survive. If you hear a kitten crying out for help in this freezing weather, do not hesitate - help it. 

Oftentimes, cold kittens will seek help from humans when the weather starts getting really bad. They know that they might not be able to go through it without their momma, so they go looking for help elsewhere. But not all of them do it. Not all of them think of the option, and not all of them think of it on time. It's important to help if you find a freezing kitten outside in the winter. And if you can't take the adorable feline in yourself, then you should do your absolute best to find a home for it before the worst of the cold weather hits.

    he was at the christmas tree place and needed a home, luckily my aunt and uncle are suckers when it comes to cats! he's getting checked out in a few days but until now he's in quarantine downstairs

  • We can imagine that some people would think something like this happening while they go Christmas tree shopping is inconvenient, but we… we think that it is actually a tiny Christmas miracle. This kitty may very well have ended up alone on Christmas Eve if you hadn't come, falling in love with it and taken it home. And thinking about that makes us exceptionally sad. Now, he is where he needs and deserves to be - celebrating the holidays in his purrfect forever home.

    buttershdude Good on you for giving him a home. I doubt he was truly a barn cat. He wouldn't be that friendly. Seems more like a dumped pet. People suck.

  • It is clear from the pictures alone, even without this itty bitty tidbit of information, that this kitty knows it has found its home. He looks so calm, wrapped up in your arms the way that he is. We know that you said your aunt and uncle have him now, and we think that is amazing, but we do hope that you get to visit him many times in the future, so he could chill in your warm, loving arms again and again.

    Ladylottington 72 What a beautiful boy! If you haven't already, I'd get him checked over by a vet to see if he's chipped/neutered etc and book it in. Looks like the poor lad has discharge from the nose, (possibly cat flu) which can be easily treated with antibiotics :) all the best to you and Larry!
